摘要：第五次人口普查公布，2000 年11 月1 日零时，大陆31 个省、自治区、直辖市总人口为126583 万人，漏报率为1181 %。意味着普查直接登记人口只有124337 万人，比公布人数少2246 万人。本文从几个方面对普查直接登记的124337 万人进行了评估，指出普查登记人口确实存在一定程度的漏报，漏报人口超过2000 万。

Preliminary Evaluation of Population Size by the 2000 National Population Census

Abstract: According to the 5th national population census, 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government in China Mainland have 1265.83 million population on November 1, underreporting rate 1.81%, which means the population registered directly is only 1243.37 million, 22.46 million less than the published number. This paper makes an evaluation from several aspects of the 1243.37 million people registered directly, pointing out that underreporting does exist in the registered population in census , the number above 20 million.
