Abstract: Using national above-scale manufacturing enterprise data, this paper investigates the development pattern of manufacturing industries in inland and coastal areas and analysis whether the transferring of manufacturing between regions has occurred in China. We find that, the industries in coastal area are now seeking for lower cost, at the same time the agglomeration still play important role in the industrial development for inland areas. The manufacturing sector—especially labor-intensive industries—have begun to relocate from coastal to inland regions.
