Xinmei Wang is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Population and Labor Economics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Beijing. She holds a Ph.D in economics from Hitotsubashi University, Japan. She was a Visiting Scholar of the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College, Boston, and University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, respectively. She was a Post-doctoral Fellowship of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Tokyo.

 

Her major research area is public pension reform. Most recent paper is “Developing Countries and Systemic Pension Reforms: Reflections on Some Emerging Problems”, International Social Security Review. She currently heads two international research projects: one is the JSPS-CASS joint-research project: “Pension Reform in the PRC: Searching for a new Framework Based on Japanese Experiences”, together with Noriyuki Takayama; the other is the Australia-CASS joint-action project: “The Effects of Public Pension Reforms on Inequality among the Elderly Population in China between 1988 and 2013”, together with Jinjing Li.
